11 Quarantine gifts | Gifts to give while social-distancing

As someone who is likely to spend their birthday at home and has seen her friends have to cancel their parties, I thought it time to talk about quarantine gifts. Social-distancing has tested relationships and made us think a bit more about how to show we care. Between video calls, co-watching movies, and Zoom pub quizzes, I think we’ve all done pretty well!

These gifts are also completely acceptable to give to almost anyone at any time of the year, especially if you live far away and can’t celebrate in person. Of course, if they can share an Amazon Wish List with you, that would just make everything that much easier! 🙂

Video message collage

Ask friends and family to send you a quick 5-10 second congratulations message on video. Be sure to be specific if it’s vertical or horizontal to make your life easier! There are a bunch of free editing tools out there like INSHOT or FILMORAGO.

Tinggly

We won’t be home forever and to help your loved one look forward to traveling again, give them the gift of TINGGLY — an experience gift box that’s good for experiences around the world! They have a box for every occasion and mail it right to their door or send it as an e-voucher. There’s also no expiration date.

Tea

For the tea-lover in your life, maybe send a nice tea gift package. It’s best if you can find a local store who ships their tea, but in the US, THIS ONLINE SHOP has some lovely packages. If you’re in the UK, THIS ONE looks cute. For the NL, we use CITEA because it’s a local Amsterdam brand and their stuff is awesome!

Coffee

If your loved one is more of a coffee fanatic, then look into sending them a little coffee care package to help them get through the days. For your friends and family in the US, check out DRIFTAWAY COFFEE. If they are in the UK, then ROOST AND POST is a great one to look into!

A book or audio book

Order a book and have it sent directly to their home, give them an AUDIBLE MEMBERSHIP, or just credits for a specific book. If they are more of a fan of e-books (that’s me!) then you can send an e-book as a gift. CNET has all the info on how to do that easily.

Comfy clothes

Working from home means that you don’t want to wear stuffy clothes all day…everyone feels that way. If you share a similar style to your friend (and you know their size), order them a new set of lounging clothes.

Streaming services

A great quarantine gift that you may have thought of by now is a streaming service. Many streaming services let you have a few different profiles on one account, so you could just your password and let them have their own profile, or gift them NETFLIX, DISNEY+, etc.

Send flowers

Here in the Netherlands you can send mailbox flowers. We have standard post box sizes, so it’s easy to make this happen. In the Netherlands, send TULIPS, various other LIVE FLOWERS, or DRIED FLOWERS in the mail. Even if this isn’t an option where you live, look into something like TELAFLORA who has a network and can deliver flowers to 165 countries.

Alcohol or a bar set

If the giftee is anything like us, they like to have a proper bar. Send them some spirits from your area, their local area, or anything they love. Or if you know they’ve been wanting to make mixed drinks at home but don’t have a proper shaker and such, order them one! THIS ONE seems nice with recipes on the shaker plus a muddler, bar spoon, and measuring cup. Then send them over to our post on how to make EUROPEAN COCKTAILS at home or our YOUTUBE CHANNEL which has a few cocktail making videos.

Candles for cozy nights

Who doesn’t love candles? Look for some that you can send that will add some nice ambiance. I love the WOODWICK CANDLES because they also crackle. It gives a whole new layer to a chill night at home watching a movie with a glass of wine.

Adult coloring books or paint by numbers

Do you know someone who wishes they were creative but can’t draw? These are the perfect gifts! So many of my friends have leaned into these ways of being creative without having to create something from scratch. Order your ADULT COLORING BOOKS or PAINT BY NUMBERS from Amazon, there are tons of choices.

Do you have more suggestions? We’d love to hear them! Leave a comment with other gifts to give when you can’t visit someone face-to-face.
