Pacsafe review: Venturesafe G3 15l

If you’ve been following us for a while, you know we love our Pacsafe bags for when we travel. On our first trip to Europe together, we each bought a Pacsafe bag for a sense of security, and let me tell you, it really helps! The peace of mind we get when we are able to strap our bags to a pole or a chair and not worry about someone snatching it is really nice.

Because we were already fans of Pacsafe, they reached out to let us try the Venturesafe G3 15 liter backpack as an upgrade to what we had previously, so it is gifted to us.

We’ve created a review on the Venturesafe G3 15 liter Pacsafe bag so you can see if it’s the right bag for you. We each have needs when we travel. They can even change depending on the destination or the reason for travel. Hopefully, this helps you narrow down your choices!

If you’re curious, I’ve already reviewed the Pacsafe Citysafe CX 17 liter backpack. Spoiler: I loved it and now take it on every travel day!

A review of the Venturesafe G3 15l – great day bag

This is a great all-around bag and in this review, I’ll share what I think the best uses are and where it falls a bit short.

If you are looking for something versatile and light-weight, this might just be the bag for you. The size is, what I consider “medium”, which makes it a perfect size for a day bag. It shouldn’t get too heavy throughout the day because you can’t put in more than you need to. Here are the dimensions: 8.1 x 10.2 x 6.3 in / 20.5 x 26 x 16 cm.

water bladder space on venturesafe bag

Speaking of versatile, you can put a water bladder (up to 3 liters!) in here because there’s an exit spot for the tube and an elastic separator in the main area of the backpack to keep it in place. But, if you aren’t hiking or going for a long walk, you can use that same elastic separator to hold your laptop, tablet, books, etc. The back of the backpack is well padded, so you’re laptop is pretty protected. As always, though, I recommend keeping it in a sleeve for extra protection.

I like this for a day bag because it’s a big space to toss everything in you might need throughout the day. If you go shopping, just toss it in! Of course, there are water bottle pockets perfect also for umbrellas or to stuff a reusable bag instead.

What I don’t see this bag being, is a camera bag. It’s very light-weight so it doesn’t offer much protection for things inside, except for the back padding which is very thick! It’s a bit of a trade-off. You could look into a camera bag insert, something like this from Amazon, to add to it which would make it more user-friendly if you were to use it for camera gear.

Safety features of the Venturesafe G3 15l

Pacsafe is known for its security measures. It’s why you buy their bags! The eXomesh slashguard is a mesh within the fabric (you don’t really notice it) that prevents people from slashing through your bag with a knife. The Carrysafe slashguard strap prevents people from cutting through your strap. Apparently, there are parts of the world where this is very common! You can’t be too safe with your bag since it’s usually carrying your valuables.

Pacsafe venturesafe zippers

The zippers are on a whole new level! The way they slide into each other is already a step towards extra safety, but then they can also lock in place. Anytime a new locking mechanism comes out, it takes a bit of getting used to. But, I find that it’s not a big deal because it just means that someone can’t waltz up and zip it easily. Once you get the hang of it, it’s second nature to unzip your bag from the locked position.

Venturesafe front pocket

Inside there’s an RFID blocking pocket that is perfect for anything with a chip in it. This might be your passport, credit cards, or security badges. It’s there, so I highly recommend using it

Venturesafe lock strap

My favorite safety feature on Pacsafe bags is in the strap that you can unhook and hook around a chair, bench, pole, etc. I use this all the time when I’m eating or mingling. It gives me such peace of mind.

The Venturesafe G3 15l is easy to use

It can take a few minutes and up to a couple of uses to get used to the features. But once you do, it’s second nature and you know a secret that nobody else does. Since it’s black without a lot of fuss on the outside, it doesn’t draw much attention (which is what you want!). Other colors are available, too!

Sean with Pacsafe backpack in Vilnius

This backpack of ours has already been all over Europe! From Lithuania, Poland, Italy, and of course, Amsterdam — it’s our go-to day bag so I can keep my necessities with me. I almost forgot to mention. There is a sternum strap with clip to use. And somedays, it makes all the difference.

My favorite thing about this bag is that it is super light and has a large inner space. Along with the zippers that keep it super secure, I can definitely see anyone finding a use for this backpack.
