I’m from the mountains, an area where people flock to see the changing color of the leaves on the Skyline Drive. We called them “leafers”. People from the Washington, D.C. area, and all over the country, would take in the sea of green, red, orange, yellow, and brown and they drove the winding roads of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Now, in Amsterdam, I wasn’t sure if I would get the same pleasure in life…to see the leaves changes from full and green to bare for the winter. I don’t know what makes the process such a beautiful sight, but it will always remind me of home.
There you have it…fall in Amsterdam. It’s never a bad time to visit the city of canals. The trees the line the canals are one of the best ways to see the changing leaves, so either a walk through the canal belt or a canal cruise would be a great option. But of course, the many parks the city is known for would also offer some great foliage scenery!
What is your favorite season and where do you like to spend it?
